How To Grow Pacific Coast Iris

Pacific coast iris can be planted in full sun in cooler climates, with other garden subjects or left to naturalize under the shade of oak, redwood, or pine trees. Summer water is essential until they are well established after which time they may be watered infrequently during the summer. If allowed to go to seed, they will self-sow freely.    However in warm climates pacific coast iris need to be planted in at least half shade and receive a regular watering about twice a week. The time to transplant is determined by pulling away the soil to disclose the formation of new white roots. They cannot be safely moved until these roots are very evident, but unlike other beardless iris, they can be moved well into the winter months—December through February .In cooler climates the foliage may be green year around. If they turn brown you can trim back to about two inches, be sure not to cut any new fans!

Isaiah 40:8
The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the Word of our God stands forever.
