Louisiana irises require large amounts of water and can be grown on banks of streams or ponds or even directly in ponds. They do equally well in rich deep garden soil that is kept moist. They are rampant growers and will require periodic transplanting. Some Louisiana varieties will “travel” or extend their rhizomes a foot or more a year. Here in Southern California we plant them in a plastic lined hole and apply drip irrigation so that they stay moist all the time. Peat moss and acidic soil are necessary for good growth.
Isaiah 40:8
The grass withers and the flowers fade, but the Word of our God stands forever.
